Sonic Standing finished verson without background

This is the finished version of this WIP. I didn't feel that I would be able to make a good enough background for this, I decided to omit it.

I've came up with a handy method that works for me in doing valuing for my digital pieces. Before I start to work on putting in the flats, choose two colors, one light and one dark to use as a gradient background. Using the light valued color as the light source to apply my valuing on the character/characters being worked on.
Depending on where I put the light source, can change the position of were the values of light fall on the character/characters in the piece.
You want to give the feeling that the character/characters are three dimensional even though they are a two dimensional drawings.


Note: Do not abuse the colors black and white. They can ruin your valuing by adding too much of a dulling or washed out effect to the values you are using. Unless that is the desired effect you want, try to avoid it as much as possible.
